Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Project
The Extended School Day / School Violence Prevention Project supports school / community agency collaborations at four Rochester middle schools: Thomas Jefferson Middle School, Charlotte Middle School, Dr. Freddie Thomas Learning Center, and James Madison School of Excellence. Four community based organizations are also involved: Society for the Protection and Care of Children, Hillside Children’s Services, Community Place of Greater Rochester, and SouthWest Area Neighborhood Association.
After school activities focus on academic enrichment and development of social skills that lessen violence in the schools and community.
Children’s Institute manages the NY State Education Department grant, reports to the Department of Education, and facilitates work with the program.
