Senior Communications Coordinator

Position: Senior Communications Coordinator (Title in U of R posting: Sr Health Project Coordinator)

We seek an enthusiastic Senior Communications Coordinator to support our external and internal communications and marketing activities and serve as senior communications and graphics coordinator for Children’s Institute. You will develop high-quality print and electronic communications to support the organization’s brand and mission and facilitate agency-wide communications, publication, presentation, website, and e-marketing requests. In addition, you will oversee digital and offset print cost estimates and production, and participate in communications, public relations, fundraising, and marketing efforts to raise awareness of Children’s Institute. You will promote a positive public image and control the dissemination of information on our organization’s behalf, working with the Director of Organizational Transformation and other staff, including the Executive Director. Phenomenal communication skills, deployment of social media tools and analytics, lived experience, a passion for storytelling and content generation, and copywriting skills are assets. Experience in non-profit agency communications and project management are important qualities too. Responsibilities

  • Participates in communications, public relations, fundraising, and marketing efforts to raise awareness of Children’s Institute. Develops and Coordinates press release distribution; maintains press contact information; collects media references. Collaborates with staff in identifying public relations and social media opportunities; Develops print and electronic marketing materials and messages. 

  • Coordinates agency-wide publication and presentation needs. Provides graphic design for materials produced in house and outsourced for printing such as annual report and appeal, newsletters, program manuals, lobby materials, flyers, and brochures. Compiles content and coordinates editing process. Makes independent cost and scheduling recommendations; oversees print production and mailing for projects; obtains print/mail and specialized product estimates to ensure cost-effective, high-quality results.

  • Produces PowerPoint presentations for meetings and special events. Produces agency promotional and exhibit products including banners, signage, and other promotional items.

  • Maintains social media and makes daily/weekly posts. Makes content updates to agency website; works with IT professional in implementing functionality and design enhancements as needed.  Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

  • Provides graphic design and support to COMET Informatics, LLC; produces promotional materials including exhibit banners, ads, case studies, brochures, and flyers.

  • Keeps abreast of new graphic design trends and technologies by self-study, attending seminars, courses, or conferences that enhance personal development and strengthen skills; develops extended learning plan to maintain proficiency and skills in graphic design software.

  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, media relations, journalism, or related areas.

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated expertise in program management, process development and implementation.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills required; Creative problem solving and strong intercultural communication skills with documented experience in general and social media marketing.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and editing content based on target audience. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills and ability to effectively coordinate communications with the staff, senior management, board, community, and other outside partners,

  • Ability to perform tasks related to coordinating agency-wide publications and presentation needs. Provides graphic design for materials produced in-house and outsourced for printing such as annual report and appeal, newsletters, program manuals, lobby materials, flyers, and brochures.

  • Ability to offer excellent customer service to a diverse group of internal and external constituents.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively; Ability to work well under pressure and take initiative; Ability to manage details efficiently on multiple concurrent projects; Ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Ability to develop and maintain social media content updates to the agency website and implement functionality and design enhancements as needed. 

  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
