Position: Data and Technology Solutions Specialist

In this position, one will become part of a vibrant team bringing together data, science, and programmatic initiatives for the benefit of children. This role focuses on multiple aspects of building data integration processes that support continuous improvement, program delivery, and novel analysis - and ultimately data sovereignty among families while helping architect and build a community network that promotes comprehensive outcomes in children. Specifically, one will provide technology and data integration support across platforms to implement and inform child-, family-, and community-serving initiatives within Children’s Institute and among partner organizations, schools, health care, and human service providers. Analyze data and disseminate information/reports for strategic programmatic decision-making and agency-wide information technology goals. Develop understanding of programs, services, and initiatives to effectively formulate new technology and database management solutions, in conjunction with existing data platforms, that meet program/service goals and produce positive outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Assess, select, and roll out updates and new technology solutions including those to support tracking and communications, screening event management, and other program management needs.
  • Support technology use on Get Ready to GROW applications – service transactions, reports, portal, exports, data integration.  
  • Utilize pre-existing and develop new competencies in organization platforms including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office 365 tools, COMET (www.comet4children.com), DocuSign, Calendly, ConstantContact, as well as others used by partners and community (MyWayFinder, UniteUs, The Garage In, iCarol, EPIC, etc.).  
  • Use existing (and develop new) competencies in data integration standards (ex. HL7, etc), data integration with EPIC, informed consent best practices, data security and privacy (HIPAA, FERPA, GDPR, etc.).  
  • Support design of database, data warehouse, analytics technology approach, and data integration needs. Meet with project participants to help formulate project goals and determine protocols and information gathering methods. Maintain records and conduct correspondence with a variety of agencies and officials that provide sources of information. Assist in design, development, and programming of systems needed to meet optimum data presentation goals. Prepare reports and recommendations based on information gathered.
  • Conduct statistical analyses using a variety of applications, interpret results, prepare and disseminate reports. Evaluate research protocols and objectives.
  • Develop SQL queries, procedures, and other scripting codes (Python or R) to assist in the maintenance and validation of data systems.
  • Design, develop, and maintain online dashboards in support of reporting for Get Ready to GROW (and CI) that are human-centered and responsive to partners’ needs; may also include supporting the operation of research data warehouse.  
  • Routine project-related administrative tasks. Maintain ongoing communication with project partners and participants to facilitate timely data collection and sharing in compliance with project requirements. Support communication needs as appropriate.
  • Know and support CI strategic priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, data analytics, data science, software engineering, or related field and some graduate level course work in that field, and 3-5 years’ experience in the analysis and dissemination of information; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of programming and statistical programming packages required.  
  • Familiarity with a variety of data sets – financials, sales, marketing, clinical
  • Familiarity with Master Data Management processes
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact directly with clients and represent CI
  • Expertise in BI tools and data visualization – understanding of how data sources can connect and be implemented for analysis and modeling  
  • SQL and proficiency in database structures
  • Developing people-first solutions and processes (e.g., Agile, Human-Centered Design)


Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
  • Extensive experience implementing a database technology in support of a Data Warehouse – Snowflake, Redshift, Oracle, SQL Server, BigQuery, Teradata-Relevant
  • Experience with relational database solutions, such as MySQL, HIVE, Access
  • Experience with cloud data services such as AWS and Microsoft Azure
  • Expertise with setting up and building ETL and data pipelines using SQL, Python Spark, and tools such as databricks, SSIS, etc.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, XML, R programming, and other statistical and data visualization tools (e.g., SPSS, Tableau)
  • Regression, Clustering, Data mining, Machine learning, Decision Trees, Classification, Association rules, Predictive modeling, and Blockchain technology
  • Holding or working toward a data management certification, such as DAMA Certified Data Management Professional, Salesforce Certified Data Architecture and Management Designer, IBM Certified Data Architect, HL7 Certification or TOGAF 9.
